A historical fact of great relevance for the municipality of Curtis was the passing of the Palencia-A Coruña railway line and the construction of the Curtis station, which was inaugurated by King Alfonso XII in 1883 and which was an obligatory stop for the trains since a water tank in the vicinity made it possible to supply the steam engines.

For a long time, and with a road link to Santiago de Compostela, it became one of the few ways to reach the Castilian plateau from the city of Santiago. And was undoubtedly a great factor for the development and economic boom of the region and, especially, of this municipality.
